TRANSRACIAL ADOPTION WORKSHOPS

I have created a variety of workshops that have been designed to educate current or future adoptive parents on how to be better prepared or raise a child of color. Workshops include facilitated discussions about privilege, racism, understanding the adoptee experience and how to make cultural changes within the household. My teaching style includes discussion in groups, structured activities and sometimes assisted by video. Participants will engage in activities and discussions designed to assist in becoming more racially and culturally aware within the framework of transracial adoption.

Workshop Topics Include:

Understanding Race & Privilege

Everything An Adoptive Parents Should Know in 90 Minutes or Less

Breaking Down Barriers (Deconstructing Stereotypes)

Restructuring the Home
